API: UP2000 Performance

UP2000 Performance

The UP2000 scales the UP1000's architecture to two Alpha 21264 processors sharing a 256-bit, ECC-protected memory bus — built for workloads that outgrow a single-processor board.

Bandwidth

  • Memory bandwidth: up to 2.65GB/s across a 256-bit bus
  • L2 cache bandwidth: up to 3.2GB/s sustained, per processor
  • I/O bandwidth: 400MB/s across dual independent peer PCI buses

Where the UP2000 excels

Combined with the PowerRAC Chassis 320, up to 28 UP2000 systems can be racked into a single 3U-per-node cluster — 42+ gigaflops of aggregate compute in a standard rack footprint, aimed at ISPs, render farms and numerically-intensive scientific clusters running Linux for Alpha.

For full board specifications see the UP2000 Technical Reference.
