API: UP1000 Performance
UP1000 Performance
The UP1000 pairs a single Alpha 21264 processor with the AMD-751 System Controller, giving it cache and memory bandwidth well ahead of contemporary x86 workstation boards at launch.
Bandwidth
- L2 cache bandwidth: up to 3.2GB/s sustained
- Main memory bandwidth: up to 800MB/s (100MHz 64-bit memory bus)
Where the UP1000 excels
The 21264's deep out-of-order execution engine and the UP1000's memory subsystem make it well suited to memory-bandwidth-bound workloads: scientific/numeric computing, compilation farms, and Linux/Alpha compute-cluster nodes built around the PowerRAC Chassis 320.
For processor-level architecture detail see the Alpha 21264 and 21264A product pages. For full board specifications see the UP1000 Technical Reference.
